beginner’s magic
You no longer decide things
by going back and forth
about
what’s best for you to do.
What’s best for you
plays no part in it at all.
The basic logic of how you
decide things
is crushed altogether.
That’s how the magic begins.
Then you don’t let it
go to your head
that you are now doing
magic.
It’s not magic anymore
if you do that.
You loosen your grip
on the magic.
You and the magic are
becoming playmates with
your world.
The training is:
things keep interrupting
everything you begin to
get into.
You’re in the middle of
a show
and somebody changes
the channel.
You’re thrown into
watching
a program already
in progress.
You have to
pick things up
as you go along.
Missing how it all
started
is perfectly fine,
and a touch
funny.
You are becoming
a good victim of the
teachings.
You are becoming
less interested
in how things turn out
for you,
or for anyone.
You don’t stop
meditating,
you meditate so much
you lose
your desire to
meditate.
The experience of
pain and
pleasure is completely
felt.
You operate
on the same level
as
everybody else.
It is very powerful and
simple.
It is beginner’s
magic.
