still, you should do it

Are they taking
advantage
of your friendship?
Do they think you are
the one taking
advantage of them?
You’ve got a feeling for
what it takes to
make a good friendship
happen.
How personal you
need to be,
the proper distance.
You want them to
be the same.
Maybe at first, they are.
Then, they’re not.

Do you give them more
space?
But then, too much
space
is maybe the same as
too much trying
to make a relationship
last, because you
think things that last
are meaningful.

Not really.

Lots of
meaningless things
go on forever.

Any idea you use
on how to do it
ruins it.

Going out more
to know people is
a hard practice.
Not some cozy little
you like me I like you
because you like me.
How nice!

The point is,
you go out to
find out more
about somebody
because you are
interested in
finding out more
about them.

Sometimes when
you go to do that,
they get suspicious.
They treat you
like you’re attacking
them,
or out to seduce
them.
Sometimes they
want to tell you a lot
about what they’re
up to and
don’t want to know
about you.
That’s what they’re
telling you
by the questions
they don’t ask
you.

You should listen to
them.

Wanting them
to understand you
just ends up
in a lot of hurt
feelings.
You could let them
not know you.

You don’t go out
to get to know people
to be less lonely.

Usually, it makes you
more lonely
the more you go out
to others.

Still, you should
do it,
